Des Monies
The "Waterland" City gets its name (and the pronunciation thereof) from the more-well-known Iowa town. This small Puget Sound-front city, incorporated in 1959, runs the only Eastern Puget Sound marina between Seattle and Tacoma.
Much of the city is on a slope down to the Sound, providing water views from most points in the city. It would be much like a Monterey-style resort town except for the small inconvenience of being in the Sea-Tac Airport flight path.
The city is bounded by the Sound to the west, state Route 99 (known at that stretch as Pacific Highway South) to the east, Redondo to the south and Normandy Park and Sea-Tac to the north.
