SODO
Seattle's Sodo neighborhood was for decades known as the gritty industrial heart of a largely blue-collar town. And while Sodo is still at heart an industrial place, there’s a new luster being added to the blue-collar neighborhood.
This mini-renaissance has been fueled in part by the addition of two new sports stadiums, built at a cost of about a billion dollars.
During the day, tens of thousands of workers pour into the area’s many brick warehouses, massive trucking yards and low-slung cement business parks. And when night falls, what used to be a no-man's land is now a destination spot, especially when the Mariners or Seahawks are in town. Sports fans have no trouble finding food and drink at the many sports bars and restaurants populating the area.
